Cairo: Agencies: (06/21/2010): His Excellency NHRC chairman, Dr. Ali bin Smaikh al-Marri, who is also head of the Panel of Experts for Arab human rights emanating from the Standing Committee of the Arab human rights group has confirmed that a meeting was held in Cairo yesterday that discussed aspects of cooperation and coordination between the Arab human rights group and the NHRC. The meeting, he added, sought to develop guidelines and mechanisms for joint action between the NHRC and the panel in such a way that would facilitate an easy working relationship in terms of quality, speed and proficiency.Read More

Doha – QNA: (15/06/2010): NHRC Chairman Dr. Ali Ben Smaikh al-Marri met at NHRC HQ today with a delegation from the National Human Rights Committee in the Sultanate of Oman currently visiting Doha under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Chairman of the Commission proposal.
The delegation was briefed on the Qatari experiment in the Human Rights field where the NHRC mission was reviewed with the aim of allowing the NHRC of Oman to either follow the Qatari example of further build upon or both especially in the field of exchanging views and experience on the subject or in the field of international public relations with concerned parties.Read More

Geneva, June 09 (QNA) – The United Nations Human Rights Council, currently in session here, has endorsed the report of the State of Qatar on the mechanism of the universal periodic review of human rights Qatar.
Chairman of Qatar”s National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Dr. Ali bin Smeikh Al-Marri said the endorsement of the report was an assertion of Qatar”s credibility and a fruit of its efforts aimed to enhance and protect human rights, reviewing in this respect the vision of the state of Qatar towards human rights conditions in the country.
Doha (al-Arab Daily: 9/6/2010): Her Excellency, Mariam al-Attiyah NHRC Secretary General has announced the names of student winners of the contest (Know Your Rights) that was launched by NHRC as part of a comprehensive schools’ Human Rights program.
