Doha – QNA: (15/06/2010): NHRC Chairman Dr. Ali Ben Smaikh al-Marri met at NHRC HQ today with a delegation from the National Human Rights Committee in the Sultanate of Oman currently visiting Doha under the chairmanship of Mr. Mohammed bin Abdullah Chairman of the Commission proposal.

The delegation was briefed on the Qatari experiment in the Human Rights field where the NHRC mission was reviewed with the aim of allowing the NHRC of Oman to either follow the Qatari example of further build upon or both especially in the field of exchanging views and experience on the subject or in the field of international public relations with concerned parties.

Doha: (Al-Arab: 13/06/2010): In the context of NHRC’s school program: "Know Your Rights", NHRC held an awards presentation ceremony, Thursday (10/6/2010) at Wajba Independent Preparatory School for Girls.

The objectives of the program  can be summed up in stimulating active student participation in the field of human rights, at this stage of their school years.

Geneva, June 09 (QNA) – The United Nations Human Rights Council, currently in session here, has endorsed the report of the State of Qatar on the mechanism of the universal periodic review of human rights Qatar. 

 
Chairman of Qatar”s National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) Dr. Ali bin Smeikh Al-Marri said the endorsement of the report was an assertion of Qatar”s credibility and a fruit of its efforts aimed to enhance and protect human rights, reviewing in this respect the vision of the state of Qatar towards human rights conditions in the country.

Doha (al-Arab Daily: 9/6/2010): Her Excellency, Mariam al-Attiyah NHRC Secretary General has announced the  names of student winners of the contest (Know Your Rights) that was launched by NHRC as part of a comprehensive schools’ Human Rights program. She expressed happiness with the students’ response and their excellent participation in the competitions organized in the course of the program.  

Her Excellency stated that a ceremony in honour of the participants will take place tomorrow at Wajbah School in recognition of the school’s distinguished response to the program.

Doha (Agencies: 05/17/2010): In preparation for the performance of civil society organizations in the context of the activities leading to the 7th Forum for the Future chaired by Qatar and Canada this year due to be held in Qatar, an official meeting was held  at the Cairo Headquarters of the  International Canadian Research Centre. The meeting was attended by representatives of the Centre, the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC), Qatar,   and the Arab Foundation for Democracy. 
 
 The meeting, co-chaired by NHRC Chairman, Dr. Ali Ben Smaikh al-Marry, and Mr. Monroe Laughlin – Vice President of the International Canadian Research Centre, dealt with all related regulatory and logistic issues these activities.
