Beirut – Qana: 17/10/2010: The State of Qatar has been paying special attention to youth welfare at the national, regional and international levels; and there were many efforts in this regard- the most important of which was an initiative where Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Almisnid patronaged the establishment of Silatech, an innovative social enterprise.
The statement above came in a speech by His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Marri, NHRC chairman, delivered on his behalf by Mr. Sultan Al-Jamali, NHRC Director of Administrative and Financial Affairs Department during a regional workshop on youth and active participation in political, economic and social activities, held in Beirut from 18 to 20 Oct.
Dr al-Marri said the participation of youth in all aspects of public life is a right guaranteed by international conventions and charters approved by concerned national and regional institution.
In conclusion, His Excellency Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Marri said that he was confident that the Beirut workshop will provide a wide range of ideas, and constructive visions needed to examine various aspects and other related issues of youth participation in public life, with a view to put them forward for serious review by the Ministerial Meeting to be held in Doha by the end of this year.
It is worth mentioning that the Beirut workshop was organized on the sidelines of civil society organizations’ activities leading to the Seventh Future Forum 2010 jointly chaired by Qatar and Canada.
