Doha: (East: 29/05/2011):The National Commission for Human Rights received a delegation from the National Commission for Human Rights in the Sultanate of Oman headed by Her Excellency Ms. Dina Bintl Hamza al-Asfour – Secretary General of Oman National Commission for Human Rights, accompanied by Mr. Saud bin Ali binAbdullah Al Jabri – Member of the Committee and head of the union workers in the Sultanate of Oman, and Mr. Jihad bin Abdullah al-Tai – Member of the Committee.
The visit by the Omani delegation comes as part of the development of mechanisms for cooperation and exchange of experiences and expertise between the twocommittees.
HE Dr. Yousef Bin Obaidan Fakhro – Vice President of the National Commission on Human Rights, Her Excellency Ms. Maiamy Bintl Abdullah al-Attiyah – SecretaryGeneral of the National Commission for Human Rights – also met with the Omani delegation for discussions on matters of joint coordination between the twocommittees in the areas of dissemination of a culture of human rights through joint seminars and training and mutual consultation on issues of concern to theCommittees.
The human rights situation in the Arab region, regional developments in area and the importance of activating the role of national institutions, were among topicstaken up during the meeting.
HE Dr. Obaidan stressed the importance of continuing to focus on efforts underway between the two countries to consolidate and strengthen effective cooperationin promoting and protecting human rights
