Doha 🙁 QNA-5th Jan 2008): The National Human Rights Committee has condemned the brutal crimes committed by Israel against the unarmed civilian population of Gaza including women and children. In a message addressed to the Independent Palestinian Human Rights Corporation, NHRC stressed that Israeli practices against the people of Gaza constitute flagrant violation of all international laws and conventions and principles of human rights and international humanitarian law.
In its statement, NHRC expressed full support to the corporation offering to lend a hand in monitoring and documenting Israeli Human Rights violations and tracking its atrocities which over the past eleven days continued to claim scores and hundreds of lives of innocent people including children women and the elderly. The statement meanwhile emphasized anew that the killings and discernment destruction of property constitute war crimes that violate international conventions and are punishable under international law.
In New York, H.E. Ambassador Nasser Bin Abdul-Aziz Al Nasr, Qatar’s Permanent Delegate To The United Nations met last night with the U.N. secretary general and conveyed to him an urgent message from HH Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al Misnad, The Chairperson Of Qatar Foundation For Education, Science And Community Development (If) containing strong denunciation and deep concern over the devastation of the educational institutions and the dangers facing students and the teachers as a result Israel’s brutal aggression in the Gaza strip.
In Her message, HH Sheikha Mozah called upon the chief of the international organization to adopt a plan to whereby a number of schools and /educational / institutions can be declared as safe haven to shelter students and their families stressing the need to create safe corridors to allow the transport of both humanitarian aid, the wounded and the seriously ill in and out of Gaza.
HH Sheikha Mozah meanwhile said she has in contact with UNESCO Director-General Kochiro Matsuura and expressed her deep concern over the serious and catastrophic situation in Gaza.
During the audience with the U.N. chief praised, Mr. Ban Ki-Moon commended the efforts of HH Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Abdullah Al-Misnad in her capacity as UNESCO Special Envoy for Basic and Higher Education in times of emergencies entrusted with providing protection for educational establishments against military attacks.
