Cairo: Qana: 18/10/2010: NHRC Chairman Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Marri, also Chairman of the Committee of Arab experts on the human rights emanating from the Standing Committee of the Arab human rights, has said that NHRC activities have exceeded its surroundings and is now directly involved in the promotion, protection of and the dissemination of awareness of human rights culture in the regional and Arab domains.
Dr. al-Marri was speaking on the sidelines of the Tenth Meeting of the Group of Experts of Permanent Arab Committee for Human Rights.
Speaking to reporters, Dr. al-Marry said the Committee discussed several topics and important issues concerning the strengthening of a culture of human rights-foremost among these, he added, was granting observer status to some Arab NGOs at the meetings of the Permanent Arab Committee for Human Rights and the revival of the Arab Day for Human Rights, which falls on the sixteenth of March of each year
H.E. also emphasized that the violation of human rights in the occupied Arab territories by the Zionist entity is a standing item on the Committee’s agenda.
