Amman, August 04 (QNA) – Qatar‘s National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) received on Tuesday a full membership at the Asia -Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions and the International Coordinating Committee of National Institutions for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (ICC).
Qatar was granted the membership during the 14th annual Asia- Pacific Forum of National Human Rights Institutions (APF) hosted by Jordanian National Center for Human Rights (NCHR).
In a statement he made to Qatar news agency (QNA), chairman of the NHRC, Dr. Ali bin Simaikh al Merri said the two new memberships will help the committee to be more involved in activities of the international institutions concerned with human rights and for more coordination in this regard.
Dr. al Merri noted that the reception of the memberships assures the NHRC’s Credibility and independence.
The four-day Forum started in Amman Tuesday, with the participation of heads and members at human right institutions from 17 countries and is due to cover major human rights issues. (QNA)
