November 18, 13: Qatar attaches great importance to the promotion and protection of human rights
Doha: (Gulf Times: 18/11/2013): An official at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Qatar attaches great importance to promoting and protecting human rights within the state by consolidating them in its legislation and laws as well as establishing appropriate institutions for their protection and promotion,and doing its utmost efforts in this respect.
Concerning Amnesty International’s report relating to the construction sector in Qatar, Qatar News Agency announced that Qatar had commissioned DLA Piper, a leading international law firm, to undertake an independent review on this matter.
the competent authorities in Qatar had requested DLA Piper to add Amnesty International’s report to the topics that are being considered by the firm within the framework of its currently independent review about the status of foreign workers in the State of Qatar”.
