Doha: (QNA): On the occasion of Qatar’s celebrations marking the national day for human rights, the Arabic daily "Al-Sharq" today published the full text of an interview conducted by Qatar News Agency with NHRC Secretary General, Dr. Ali Said Samikh al-Marri.
During the interview, Dr. al-Marri. Stated that Human rights in Qatar are strictly adhered to thanks to the directives and total support of HH the Emir SH Hamad Ben Khalifa al-Thani.
This, H.E. the secretary general said is clearly manifest in the establishment of a number of Bureaus and foundations entrusted with monitoring adherence to human rights on all levels in the state.
H.E. also stressed that Qatar is free of child Labour and that the NHRC has not registered any form of human rights violations in the country adding that Qatar has now been chosen as member of the UN Human Rights Council-a stark proof, H.E. added, of the country’s clean record in this field.
Qatar annually celebrates The National Day for Human Rights on the 11th of November which marks the day NHRC was launched on 11th November 2002.
