Doha: Sharq newspaper: 4/7/2011: NHRC and Mauritanian counterpart yesterday signed MoU aimed at protecting and promoting Human Rights and exchange of expertise in the fields of human rights on all levels in the context of the UN charter in the field of promoting and respecting human rights and basic freedoms.
The MoU signed on the Qatari side by H.E. NHRC Chairman, Dr. Ali Bin Smaikh al-Marry and on the Mauritanian side by his Mauritanian counterpart, Ba-Mariam Kwita, comes in the context of NHRC’s keeness to its obligations as to cooperation with international, regional and national Human Rights organizations and bodies as spelled out in the Emiri decree establishing it in 2002.
The MoU seeks to consolidate cooperation between the two parties in the Human Rights domain through launching active programmes, training workshops and other activities as well as human rights research studies; it also seeks to consolidate cooperation in matters of mutual interest such as offering technical support to events held by either parties
