Geneva: 24/9/2009: Qatar has praised the Yemeni authorities’ positive and constructive stance towards the recommendations by the United Nations on the country’s human rights record.
This came in the speech given by Qatar’s Permanent Delegate to the United Nations Office and Other International Organisations in Geneva Ambassador Abdullah Falah Abdullah Al Doassari during the 12th session of the Human Rights Council on the endorsement of the report of the team concerned with the comprehensive periodic review of Yemen.
He said despite challenges and impediments’ facing the government, Yemen has adopted many national policies and strategies to enhance human rights, adding that Yemen, since the establishment of the unity state in May 1990, witnesses great development in the human rights field with its constitution ensuring all basic liberties.
He said Qatar continued to work for maintaining Yemen’s unity, stability and sovereignty over all its territories out of its conviction that unity is the base of security, progress and growth in that brotherly country.
Al-Doassari, meanwhile, congratulated the Yemeni delegation for the progress Yemen has achieved in human rights enhancement and protection, hoping that Yemen would overcome all hardships to attain stability, unity and prosperity.
