The National Human Rights Committee launched the activities of the National Human Rights Committee on the occasion of the state’s sporting day for the ninth season in a row. the National Human Rights Committee organized various activities, including hiking, volleyball, soccer, and basketball as well as yoga class on health-promoting behaviors.
Dr. Muhammad bin Saif Al-Kuwari, Vice-Chairman of the Committee, Mr. Sultan bin Hassan Al-Jamali, Assistant Secretary-General, and a number of directors of departments, officials, cadres and employees of the National Human Rights Committee, attended with their families in a family atmosphere that reflects the National Human Rights Committee’s commitment to social cohesion among employees. In a statement by Dr. Muhammad bin Saif said: “We in the National Human Rights Committee are keen to participate in the sports day of the state, and we attach great importance to this occasion because physical activity and sport is a fundamental right for all. Unfortunately, many people in the world, especially children, are still deprived of facilities that motivate them to exercise. He added: “The State of Qatar holds a unique among the countries of the world, with the idea of setting aside a day for the state to practice sport, in which all groups and segments of society participate, regardless of their positions, including the highest leadership of the state, represented in the presence of His Highness the Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, the Emir of the country. Al Kuwari noted that “the commitment to celebrate this occasion every year confirms the interest of the state leadership in sports in all its forms, and reflects an advanced and humanitarian concept, and a pioneering step to build a society with productive arms. Also, interest in sports makes Qatar the ranks of the developed countries that are concerned with health of individuals and the development of sports culture, and establishing this concept among the younger generations to educate them to practice sports at all ages.
Al Kuwari added: “The country’s sports day reflects the leadership’s vision in encouraging sports, given its importance in the life of the individual and society as a pillar of investment in the human element, in the context of the continuous development that the state aims to, in line with the Qatar National Vision 2030 2030. He added: “The National Commission for Human Rights is always keen on recommending to the Qatari government the need to pay more attention to the practice of sport and its empowerment among the various groups of society.” Pointing out that “the State of Qatar has repeatedly emphasized its keenness to pay fundamental attention to the need to respect the standards and laws of human rights in the organization of major sporting events, including the 2022 World Cup.
For his part, Mr. Sultan bin Hassan Al-Jamali, assistant secretary general affirmed that the sports day has human, social and cultural values, pointing out that Qatar, with huge investment and special focus on the overall development of the country, has become an ideal source of inspiration for others in various fields, including sports. The country, as a result of its wise leadership, has also become a global destination for athletes from different countries. Qatar National Vision 2030, which is being achieved, gave sport a great boost considering the positive impact it has on individuals and society. It symbolizes human cooperation and interaction, in the local community, among citizens and residents, and at the international level, between different peoples. Under the leadership of the Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, our country has now become an example in various fields, including sports. Qatar has become a global destination for athletes from different countries. Our country is now regularly hosting world championships and other events in some of the most important sports disciplines.
