Sana: (HRITC: 26/12/2008): The activities of the third regional training course on upgrading the qualifications of human rights activists and media in Gulf States and Yemen which is jointly organized by Human Rights Information & Training Center (HRITC) and the Foundation for the Future (FFF) concluded yesterday in Sana’a.
At the closing ceremony, the participants stressed that their participation in the training course – which had started on 21 this month – provided them with practical skills for disseminating and defending human rights concepts
Mr. Eazzadin Al- Asbahi, the head of the civil society sector in the Supreme National Anti-Corruption Commission said that the training course program presented a compendium of regional and international experience in the field of human rights training." It focused on the role of civil society in preparing human rights reports and it represented a valuable contribution towards forging partnership with the Foundation for the Future in disseminating the concepts of human
Mrs. Abeer Dagistani ,the Programs Director of Foundation for the Future in Yemen and the Gulf region said the success of the training course and the interaction of the participants reflects the success of HRITC’ and civil society institutions in disseminating the concepts of democracy and human rights.
36 countries participated in the course including Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, Qatar, Oman, Yemen, Egypt, Lebanon and Jordan. The participants have been trained by experts on the role of non-governmental organizations in disseminating and protecting human rights, setting up networks and building regional coalitions, in addition to developing mechanisms of protecting human rights defenders, preparing governmental and non-governmental reports.
