DOHA: (Agencies: 9/4.2009): A workshop that highlighted the basic facts about the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) at the UN Human Rights Council ended Thursday (9/4/2009) at the Four Seasons Doha.
The three-day event was organized by the National Human Rights Committee (NHRC) and was attended by more than 20 legal researchers representing ministries, the General Secretariat of the Cabinet, Qatar Foundation for Combating Human Trafficking and Qatar Foundation for Protecting Women and child.
In a press statement to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Joseph Obiedan Fakhro, NHRC Vice Chairman said the Workshop was held in the context of an NHRC Programme aimed at fostering the Human Rights Culture rights through building communication bridges between NHRC and relevant institutions in order to achieve the goals stipulated in the Emiri decree setting up NHRC 5/5/2003.
