A delegation from the National Human Rights Committee shall visit the Kingdom of Norway by invitation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, the delegation includes a number of officials and shall be chaired by Ms. Maryam Al-Attiyah, Secretary-General of the NHRC for four days where the delegation will meet representatives of a number of agencies, institutions and organizations working in the field of human rights as well as trade unions in Norway. Al-Attiyah stated that this visit is the first of its kind conducted by the NHRC on the international level which reflects how the NHRC developed in the recent years, including its experiences and expertise that makes it in turn a real model. At the same time, this visit will help gain new experiences that can be applied in our path in the coming years and exchanged with national institutions at the regional level through conferences, seminars and workshops organized by the NHRC, especially that Norway owns a cultural heritage of advanced human rights vision in addition to its well-known institutions and organizations, civil society in the humanitarian field. Al-Attiyah added that such visits has positive impact on harnessing accumulated experience to improve human rights as well as establishing a convergence of views on the issue of human rights itself and provisions which are affected by customs and traditions of the Arab and European peoples. The delegation shall conduct a number of important visits and meetings including the following, on the first day, the delegation shall visit the headquarters of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) to meet Ms. Ingrid Mollestad, Director General of the Department of Human Rights and Democracy, where the meeting shall discuss issues of common interest. During the meeting, The NHRC shall give presentation introducing its objectives, mandate, mechanism of receiving complaints and the potential means to solve them in cooperation with the competent authorities in the state; while the Human Rights Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway shall represent a working paper on Norway's experience in the field of human rights, the lessons learned from the UPR, a paper on the examination of Norway in front of the UN Committee, and a paper on freedom of speech and media focusing on experiences gained from Norway’s cooperation with Al-Jazeera. The NHRC shall represent a paper on "Women's rights" including live-in maids in Qatar. A joint working paper will be represented by the NHRC and MFA on The situation for immigrant workers and challenges seen. In conclusion of the first day, MFA shall represent a working paper titled (business and human rights .. great opportunities for further cooperation). On the second day, there shall be a meeting under the Theme “Workers’ rights” with the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO), the Confederation of Norwegian Enterprises (NHO) and the Norwegian Labour Inspection Authority. On the third day, the delegation Shall conduct three visits, the first shall be to the “Norwegian Centre for Violence and Traumatic Stress Studies” and the meeting shall be hosted by Mr. Jon Håkon Scultz, Assistant Professor at University of Tromsø and researcher, Ms. Norunn Vorland, the second visit shall be to  Visit to one of Norway’s biggest industrial firms, Norsk Hydro, in which History of Norsk Hydro, its basic values and involvement in Qatar for more than fifty years shall be briefed, the meeting shall be hosted by Mr. Ola Sæter Senior Vice President, and the third visit shall be to the “Ombudsman for Children”, during the meeting both sides review means of promoting children's rights and experiences in this regard.
