NHRC concluded the dialogue session organized in collaboration with the Qatar Foundation for Social Action on the development based on the principles of human rights

The National Human Rights Committee concluded the dialogue session organized in collaboration with the Qatar Foundation for Social Action on the development based on the principles of human rights. Mr. Jaber Al Huwail, Director of the Department of Legal Affairs gave the closing speech on behalf of Ms. Maryam bint Abdullah Al-Attiyah, Secretary-General of the NHRC, in which he indicated that these sessions came in the context of the implementation of the Memorandum of understanding between the NHRC and the Qatar Foundation for Social Action, which aims to disseminate, promote and protect the human rights culture in Qatari society, activate the role of civil society institutions, and ensure that all individuals enjoy their rights on the basis of full participation in rights and responsibilities to achieve human and social development. Al-Attiyah said The issue of human rights has received great attention by the international community since the middle of last century which saw the Universal Declaration of Human Rights; the past three decades saw significant developments in the issues of human rights around the world, most notably that the concept of human rights is no longer traditionally introduced, including civil and political rights only, however it comprehensively introduced with links between civil, political, social, cultural and economic rights; where the right to development is one of the most important human rights stressed in the final declaration of the conference on human rights Vienna in 1993, which stressed that democracy, development and respect for human rights and the guarantee of fundamental freedoms and human rights are interdependent and complementary. Al Attiyah emphasized that the State of Qatar under the wise leadership of His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani pays increasing attention to human rights in all fields, which has been translated to joining several international conventions relevant to human rights and fundamental freedoms and devoting Qatar's efforts to achieve sustainable development in the social, economic and environmental dimensions to ensure a dignified life for citizens generation after generation; in order to activate the above-mentioned, the leadership developed Qatar's National Vision 2030 which is working on all the challenges to the advancement of the State of Qatar and the welfare of its people. The dialogue sessions have addressed in the final day a number of papers on the national mechanisms for the protection of human rights, international mechanisms for the protection of human rights, and Human rights and corresponding duties or responsibilities.
