A Specialized training course in the field of human rights for the benefit of International Cooperation Departments

The NHRC organized a specialized training course on strengthening capabilities of officials working in international cooperation departments in the field of human at its headquarters during the period from 5 to 7 May, 2015. Participants represent international cooperation departments in various institutions in the State of Qatar; Sheikha Johara bint Mohammed Al Thani, director of programs and education department at the NHRC, stated in a press release that this session shall familiarize participants with international institutions working in the field of human rights, mechanisms of action, other relevant issues related to the work of the departments of international cooperation, and how to activate exchange and transfer of regional and international experiences and activities that help achieve the institutions objectives of the institutions they represent at the local level. Sheikha Johara confirmed that such courses play a major role in the acquisition of practical knowledge that develop staff capabilities to work according to international standards in compatible with local legislation and international human rights laws while preserving the traditions and positive values of the society. Sheikha Johara  also explained that the lectures shall focus on how to take advantage of the culture of human rights and apply it in practice at the respected departments of international cooperation, which are considered as the interface of our institutions in the regional and international communities. Sheikha Johara said that this session shall include several important and necessary themes based on human rights concepts including history, origin, and concepts of human rights and international system at international, regional and local bodies that monitors the human rights movement process, as well as the role of national human rights institutions and non-governmental organizations in the field of human rights. Working papers include a paper on international humanitarian law, which is the essential foundation in which all agreements related to this field were emanated from, as well as a presentation on experiences of some international cooperation departments and the most important aspirations and recommendations which help in practice at their career.
