A delegation from NHRC, headed by Mr. Fahad Bin Mubarak Al-Hajri, Director of the Financial and Administrative Affairs at the Committee visited Qatar Foundation for Elderly People Care (Ihsan) as part of the annual initiative undertaken by the Committee to communicate with the elderly and present to them Eid Gifts. Mr. Fahad Al-Hajri said that over the past three years, visits to our elder parents make them feel they are socially-worth. He added: We were happy with our presence with them and heard their stories that are not found in books on ancient community in Qatar and their travels, tours and trade between Asia and Africa. He pointed out that the information in their minds needs to documented to reserve the history of our country. Al-Hajri said that the NHRC considers it necessary to communicate with this important category in our community to let them feel that they still have something to offer, statistics and studies confirms that an important sector of the elderly is still in a good physical condition which constitutes a significant economic value, If we have proper planning for the elderly, we can get into this force to the fields of productive work, social guidance, and building a spiritual community. Al-Hajri called all state institutions to visit our elderly parents and said: We want to make them feel their value in society and benefit from our visits to them in terms of historical information that we receive from them. Al Hajri pointed out the comprehensive opinion on Human Rights of Islam, which raises rights that are not even included not know modern international laws for all age groups, and added that Islam gives the elderly additional rights under their need for moral and social care and also emphasizes the need for family care component, this is included clearly in many Quranic verses. For his part, Mr. Mohammed Saleh Al Nasri, head of health services department at Ihsan, highlighted NHRC's annual initiative and gave a detailed briefing of services provided by Ihsan to this community group. He pointed out that the NHRC initiative and similar ones help in integrating elderly people in the society.
