NHRC and the American Center for Labor Solidarity met the representatives of the communities

The NHRC in cooperation with the American Center for Labor Solidarity held a meeting with 6 representatives of 14 communities, namely India - Philippines - Bangladesh- Najera- Pakistan, and Nepal. The meeting which was chaired by Mr. Saad al-Abdullah, head of the International Cooperation section, addressed a number of important issues, especially discussing the major challenges facing workers and companies in the application of the wage protection system according to the new law, most notably the inability of most workers to use ATM cards and money exchange machines as most of them are not fluent in languages those machines equipped with, as well as the minimum withdrawal is not commensurate with workers' needs. The meeting discussed a package of proposals, in which participants called for the need to educate workers law and train them to use ATM cards, they also called for convening another meeting after the application of the new law to discuss challenges that may arise, and try to find appropriate solutions to challenges facing workers in this regard. The meeting also discussed achievements of community offices launched recently in May 2015 by the NHRC, and the nature of petitions received, in addition to proposals on serve the petitioners coming to these offices more efficiently.
